Tin từ Sydney, Australia cho biết ngày hôm qua 4/10/2006, Viện Đại Học Công Giáo Úc (Australian Catholic University, ACU) đã tổ chức Lễ trao văn bằng tốt nghiệp cho 9 Tiến Sĩ PhD (Doctor of Philisophy) trong số đó có Linh mục GB. Ngô Đình Tiến, thuộc Giáo Phận Nha Trang du học tại Úc từ năm 2002 đến nay.

Linh Mục GB. Ngô Đình Tiến sinh năm 1959. Vào Tiểu Chủng Viện Sao Biển năm 1970. Thụ phong linh mục năm 1993. Tốt nghiệp Thạc Sĩ Mục vụ Xã hội tại Manila, Philippines. Đã từng là Giáo sư Đại Chủng Viện Nha Trang. Và nay tốt nghiệp Tiến Sĩ (PhD) tại Sydney, Australia.

Đề tài Luận án tốt nghiệp của Cha GB. Ngô Đình Tiến là The Church as family of God: Its Development and Implications for the Church in Vietnam, có thể dịch là: Giáo hội là gia đình Thiên Chúa: sự phát triển và áp dụng của mô hình này cho Giáo hội Việt Nam. Tuy thuộc Khoa Văn Chương và Khoa Học (Faculty of Arts and Sciences), nội dung của luận án thiên về Thần học Mục vụ.

Đây là niềm vui lớn cho Giáo phận Nha Trang, xin kính chúc mừng và chia vui với Cha Tân Tiến Sĩ, với toàn Giáo phận, cách riêng với các Linh mục Gp. Nha Trang, với toàn gia đình thân quyến và với anh em Cựu Chủng Sinh Sao Biển Nha Trang.

Nguyện xin Chúa tiếp tục ban muôn ơn lành, dìu dắt và đỡ nâng Cha GB. Ngô Đình Tiến trong thời gian tới, trong nhiệm vụ phục vụ Giáo Hội tại quê nhà.

SUMMARY

The thesis entitled “The church as family of God: its development and implications for the church in Vietnam” discusses the biblical, theological, cultural and ecclesiological development of the concept/model of the family of God. It also studies and analyses the implications of this ecclesiological model for the church in Vietnam in terms of the relationships among church members and the social mission of the church as family of God.

The post-synodal Apostolic Exhortation Ecclesia in Africa (1995) calls for the development of an ecclesiology focused on the church as the family of God. The Vietnamese bishops in the Responses to the Lineamenta of the Synod for Asia (1997) promote the model of the church as family because this ecclesiological model emphasises the relationships of the children of God and the brotherhood/sisterhood in the human family which is familiar to the Asians, particularly the Vietnamese.

The study of the development of the ecclesiological concept/model of the family of God aims at identifying the proper meanings and the development of this concept/model in the tradition of the church as well as African and Vietnamese cultures. A proper understanding of the concept/model of the family will benefit the church when it promotes the ecclesiological model of the family of God. This understanding is also the basis for constructing an ecclesiology consisting of trinitarian, Basic Ecclesial Communities, ancestral veneration and liberation ecclesiologies.

The implications of the church as family of God examine the application of this model in the organisations/structures of the church in Vietnam since the seventeenth century which has still impacted the local church. It also investigates the characteristics for a greater implication in terms of participation in the church and the social mission of the church as God’s family in Vietnam.
