Nhà thờ này được xem là nơi thờ Thiên Chúa đầu tiên ở Singapore. Ðược khánh thành vào năm 1912 và thay thế cho nhà thờ cũ, tác phẩm kiến trúc này kết cấu theo hình chữ thập kiểu Latinh và luôn nổi bật với những ô cửa sổ bằng kính màu thủ công rất đẹp. Nhà thờ St Joseph được công báo là công trình kiến trúc cần được bảo tồn vào năm 1993.
Vào các ngày thứ Sáu tuần thánh, cộng đồng Công giáo ở Singapore tưởng niệm ngày Ðức Chúa trời bị đóng đinh trên thập tự giá với lễ rước trong khuôn viên nhà thờ.
